The publisher and author of Hillary’s BIG Business Adventure, Lori Nelson Lee is a talented children’s book author and aspiring writer and director of family-based television programming and feature films. She has a passion for educating kids through creative means and enjoys portraying them as lead characters experiencing and successfully overcoming conflict and the challenges of being young in today’s not so “kid-friendly” society. Her book has appeared on CBN, WB, NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, and WBAI 99.5 FM's The Wakeup Call Morning Show (New York City). In addition, Lee was a finalist in the Nickelodeon Writing Fellowship Lab Competition during the 2008 American Black Film Festival, and the winner of the 2009 Allstate Insurance “Be Reel” Community Voice Film Contest. Lee received her B.B.A. from Howard University, and her M.S. from the University of Maryland University College. She is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI), The Small Publisher's Association of North America (SPAN), and The Independent Book Publishers Association. She is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, but currently resides in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Valerie Nelson Nelson has been writing children’s stories and poetry since 2000. It was only since 2004 that she began to look for a publisher to bring her stories to life and share publicly. Her passion is children and what’s important to them. Nelson’s years of experience teaching and interacting with children inspired her to create stories that they can relate to, that are fun and that make them feel good about themselves. She juggles her writing career with a full-time career in the health industry.
I Can Do It Myself is Nelson's first published work. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland with her husband, and has two children and two grandchildren.
